The Flood Family have resided at Clonfert House & Stud since 1748 and horses have been an integral part of life on the farm for the majority of the 260 years.
The present owner’s father trained a string of National Hunt horses from the early 1930’s until the early 1950’s having major success winning the ‘Galway Plate’ with a horse called Derrinstown. The following season finishing 3rd in the Aintree Grand National. He also trained more than 100 point to point winners.
Hunters and Ponies have played a major part of the operation since then.
